About Post Adoption Services

What are Post Adoption Services?

  • · Post adoption services support adoptees in forming their identities and becoming healthy members of society.
  • · Post adoption services support adopted persons in settling into adoptive families and further satisfying adoptee's needs:
    Post adoption services pursue continuing programs that assist an adopted individual and strengthen his/her social relationship in general.

Who are post adoption services available for?

  • · Overseas and Domestic adoptees, adoptive families

Legal Basis for Post Adoption Services

Article 25 (1) (Provision of Post Adoption Services) of the special adoption act
  • · Observing the state of mutual adaptation between the adoptive parents and adopted child and services necessary for the adaptation
  • · Providing information necessary for rearing children in the adoptive family
Article 5 (Provision of Post Adoption Services) of the Enforcement Decree of the special adoption act
  • The “Birth country visits and other programs prescribed by Presidential Decree” as provided in Article 25 (3) shall refer to the following:
  • · Birth country visits
  • · Korean language training
  • · Information on the birth country
  • · Other post adoption services which the Minister of Health and Welfare deems necessary for children adopted overseas

    • · Granting of operation expences to the selected agencies or organizations

    • · Each agency or organization carries out post adoption programs accordint th their plan
  • 7.사후서비스 사업 종결 및 평가
    • · The Ministry of Health and Welfare and Korea Adoption Services examine post adoption programs performed by each agency or organization
    • · Conductind on-site inspections and an interim assessment
  • 7.사후서비스 사업 종결 및 평가
    • · Preparation of reports on assessment results and performances upon conculsion of post adoption programs
    • · Review of outcomes of the conducted programs
